Pages: Professional Certification, Why Not?

My colleague, Mr. "xxx", two days ago suddenly contacted me. He asked if I had to take CPIM certification? Immediately, I replied

"Well, not yet sir. InsyAlloh, early 2010 I was planning for the CPIM exam, sampeyan how Sir?"

"Eventually in 2010 that Mr. Nur, the end of December this year there, Mr. Nur to reply?"

Ding!

Small talk for a while, then I close telpnya. At that moment, I immediately drove to the mailing list IPOMS (APICS-ID), and also to the web-sitenya. Excellent! very true to what Mr. "xxx" was, that the end of this December there will be a test for Indonesia Chapter CPIM, exactly on the 12th.

How was the need and appreciation of society and industry for actors who have been certified globally? Is there a difference? or even no effect at all?

In 2008, the economic news has covered in a brief article about professional certification. Described therein, that the global certification proved able to support the career and at the same time boosting the value of the principal bargaining.

Some global standard professional certification include:
1. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
2. Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
3. Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
4. Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
5. Project Management Professional (PMP)
6. Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
7. Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
8. Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM)
9. Certified Marketing Professional (CPM)
10. Senior Certified Valuers (SCV)
11. Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
12. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
13. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
14. Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA)

There is an interesting example that revealed in the article, that the trend of the world will be more specific professionalism and his knowledge becomes very special, not general or generic. This means that, truly expert in the field only a few people. And, they also have to face a number of standard tests quite difficult.

For example, a CPA certification or Chartered Financial Analyst, where graduation rates throughout the world, only 32% of the total participants, and even in Indonesia, only 10-15% only. Thus, those who qualify are people who really competent and qualified in the field.

In Indonesia alone how? I have not read (have not had time googling, too), if there is no data how many professionals in the country that have been certified. If the numbers quite a lot, alhamdulillah. Means, qualifications and abilities we do not lose to an outsider. Live, it is also important, whether they work in the right field. I mean, katankalah the Mr. "X" has CPIM certification mendaptkan, but it certification can not be used optimally for the work environment is less supportive. I think, the Mr. "X" could do the alternative:

- Conducting a major improvement in her company. Is not he already certified? I am sure, his ideas should be more
- Moving to work
- Be independent consultant

What about costs? I think relatively. Especially for a man who had worked. For example, for a CPIM modules, about 200 dollars U.S..

Well, how about you? If you have the opportunity, the challenge is still wide open and there is also capital, why not take the certification?
